Johannes Vermeer silk pocket square - 'The Little Street'
0201042.00809'The Little Street' or in Dutch 'Het Straatje' was painted by Dutch Master Johannes Vermeer (1632-1675) around 1658, and is also known as 'View of Houses in Delft'. This oil on canvas painting depicts part of an ordinary street in Delft, a topic that was unusual in Vermeer's time. It is believed that the location is Vlamingstraat 40-42 in Delft. One of the houses was occupied by an aunt of Vermeer, Ariaentgen Claes van der Minne, who lived there with her three daughters and sold tripe for a living. The painting is part of the collection of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
